Did you know the National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium (NAFTC) has been presenting training to firefighters, law enforcement, and non-fire EMS since 2005, and that these are some of our most engaged and loyal audiences?
In the coming months, the NAFTC will use this column to share information from first responders on important topics, procedures, and opinions on the ever growing concern of dealing with alternative fuel vehicles involved in vehicular incidents.
As the number of electric drive, gaseous fuels, and biofuels cars and trucks produced by original equipment manufacturers and secondary vehicle up fitters increases, so will the likelihood that these vehicles will be involved in an accident. Not only will our contributing authors cover the basics of scene assessment, standard operating procedures, and vehicle technology, they will also bring new and emerging information to the first responder community as both new vehicle systems and their corresponding emergency procedures are developed.
Look for the first in this series of articles in next month’s NAFTC eNews.
