To car shoppers in China, the Honda Jade isn’t anything new, but Japanese consumers are now going to have the opportunity to purchase one for themselves.
A Chinese-only model for a long time, Honda has decided to expand the Jade into the Japanese market. The new release features 1.5-liter direct-injection engine with a 29.5 PS/160Nm lithium-ion-powered electric motor, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, the same system in the Honda Fit and Vezel Hybrids.
Offered in a six seat configuration instead of the five seat configuration seen in the Chinese model, the Japanese model offers more elbow room, but leaves room for a seven seat model in the future if the market demands it.
