Honda recently introduced the 2014 Honda Accord Plug-in Hybrid Sedan. The new Accord is an innovative vehicle that blends power, luxury, and efficiency with the capability of driving in electric-only mode. Honda’s first plug-in hybrid is poised to go on sale in early 2013, and offers plenty of perks for potential buyers.

The 2014 Accord Plug-in Hybrid Sedan is an environmentally-friendly option for purchasers. The plug-in hybrid vehicle has the ability to run in an all-electric mode for 10 to 15 miles, and can also run in gasoline-electric hybrid drive. This will reduce the amount of time drivers spend in direct engine drive, and, in turn, reduce the amount of harmful emissions the vehicle releases into the atmosphere. The vehicle is also expected to receive an Enhanced Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emission Vehicle (AT-PZEC) rating from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for its fuel efficiency, rating from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for its fuel efficiency, which is predicted to exceed 100 miles per gallon – equivalent (MPG-e).

The environmentally-friendly 2014 Honda Accord Plug-in Hybrid Sedan is also powerful: it has a calculated total driving range of over 500 miles, and has a total system output of 196 horsepower (the vehicle boasts a 4-cylinder, 137 horsepower engine and a 124-kilowatt electric motor). To maximize driving efficiency, the plug-in hybrid’s powertrain is specifically designed to move seamlessly between all-electric drive, gasoline-electric hybrid drive, and direct engine drive.

In addition to its efficiency, the 2014 Honda Plug-in Hybrid Sedan is also characterized by its quick charging time: it can be fully charged from a low-charge indication point in less than three hours using a standard 120-volt household electrical outlet, and in less than one hour using a 240-volt “Level-2” charger. Owners of the plug-in hybrid will be able to monitor the charging status of their vehicle using a free app available from Honda, the HondaLink EV smartphone application.

Although the 2014 Honda Accord Plug-in Hybrid Sedan is undoubtedly environmentally-friendly, powerful, and efficient, it is also designed as a luxury car. The interior of the 2014 Accord Plug-in Hybrid Sedan is described by Honda as “sophisticated and contemporary.” It features a next-gen Honda Bio Fabric seat material and several brighter trim accents. An interior in gray is also available to complement the vehicle’s available exterior shades, which include: White Orchard Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl (both offered for standard Accords), and Burnished Silver Metallic, a shade that is offered exclusively for this model.
