Several new resources are available to aid consumers and companies in accessing alternative fuels. In early February, the National Biodiesel Board (NBB) launched the Web site AllThingsBiodiesel.com. Touted as the world’s largest one-stop marketplace for biodiesel-related business, the site provides information on products, services, and companies. Tools such as a biodiesel directory, online ads, and a biodiesel store are on the site.

“AllThingsBiodiesel.com is for companies who want to get the word out on their product on a large scale, to companies who need to know where to turn for services and products helping their biodiesel business, to consumers wanting to make biodiesel-related purchases,” said NBB Project Manager Doug Whitehead.

Another new Web site for those interested in alternative fuels has been introduced by Mapquest. Launched at the end of January, www.mapquest.com/gasprices allows users to locate nearby alternative fuel stations by entering an address or zip code. Pricing information for alternative fuels such as biodiesel, CNG, LNG, E85, and hydrogen is also available and is provided by the Oil Pricing Information Service and the U.S. Department of Energy.

Mapquest's alternative fuel locator

Mapquest’s new alternative fuel locator site provides users with pricing and accessibility information.

Also available for locating alternative fuel stations is a guide published by USA Energy Independence. Updated quarterly, the seventy-page book includes information on E85 and biodiesel stations nationwide. Approximately 2,200 retail locations are listed by city and state along with each location’s address, hours of operation, phone number, and acceptable payment options. More information can be found at www.usaenergyindependence.com.
