An electric vehicle test track that has been unused for years recently changed ownership and will soon be operational once again. Congress gave the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) $500,000 to fund the track thirty years ago, but after a period of nonuse, TVA has sold the one-mile track for $1 to the Advanced Transportation Technology Institute (ATTI).

Founded in 1992, ATTI is a private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to advance clean transportation technologies and to promote a healthy environment and energy independence through research, education, and technology transfer. It has partnered with the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga to test electric cars, bikes, and tractor trailers on the newly-acquired track.
